    As of May 21, 2014, a CDL examination (new or renewal) MUST be performed by a
Certified Medical Examiner
and be listed on the National Registry for CME's.

    The purpose of the medical examination is to be able to determine the driver's suitability to operate a commercial motor vehicle under the guidelines and regulations set forth by the FMCSA (Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration).

In General, the examination includes:

  • Vision
  • Hearing
  • Blood Pressure and Pulse Rate
  • Laboratory and other Test Findings
  • Physical Examination Findings
  • Certification Status (Restrictions, SPE, Waivers or Exemptions)
